Habits, your way to success !!!

"Good habits are hard to develop but easy to live with."

People often ask me how do I remain positive & enthusiastic all the time? Believe me, I was not like that from the beginning, I used to complain about the weather, why is it so cold or so hot ? Why is there so much traffic? 

 When I started to read & incorporate the habits which I am going to share, they completely changed my perspectives. I see opportunity in every challenge that I encounter on a daily basis. You don’t see me complaining anymore about weather or traffic because those are external things which I don't have control over.   But I can control myself whether to react, respond or not, right ? 

When we complain we get more into our life & those are negative vibes. How many of you like to bring negative vibes into your life?  

Of course not, so I accept it & cherish that moment because we don’t get a moment again. I am going to share six habits that has helped me to stay positive & enthusiastic

  1. Gratitude Journal:- Having Attitude of gratitude is the most powerful thing that can totally transform our life. I have learned to write  a gratitude journal from the Secret book written by Rhonda Bryne. I start my day by waking up one to two hours earlier than others to do my morning rituals, one is gratitude journal. I count my blessings & I am genuinely thankful for that. In the beginning, it was very hard to find my blessings which was natural because it was out of my comfort zone. Most of us take many things  for granted & realize the importance once it has been taken away. We can be grateful for our family, for being healthy, to have a car & all the things that makes our life easier & smoother. 

  1. Meditation:- Meditation is the most powerful tool to train our brain. Our mind has been distracted by so many things & we have a monkey mind which goes here. I started a meditation practice to calm my mind, but even here I struggled a lot. I felt it was a complete waste of time.  I was frustrated but I did not stop learning about meditation. Now I am comfortable, I just find a quiet place where nobody interrupts me. I usually meditate in the morning.  I sit comfortably, put on meditation music & focus on my breathing. Inhale through the nose & exhale through the mouth, thoughts still come, but I bring my awareness to breathing. It is that simple

  1. Rewrite my goals:- I am a goal oriented person & I always set my goals. I write my goals two times in a day, morning & night. Written goals help me to have a clear focus & eliminate distractions. I take action every single day so that I can be one step closer to my goal. When we don't have the goals, we head in multiple directions.

  1. Listen to  motivational podcasts & read self help books:- Actually, this habit always inspires & uplifts me. I get new ideas & get the solution for the challenges. We are surrounded by negativity & so much bad news, which makes us sad. If I don't take care of my mind, many weeds can grow which will not take me to my destination. We need to eat healthy food in order to remain healthy. The same goes to our mind. That’s why I always take time to read & listen. I had a habit of reading newspapers in the morning, which did not bring good vibes throughout the day, so I stopped reading newspapers especially in the morning & night. Don’t get me wrong here, we need to get updated with the latest news but day time is the perfect time to read.

  1. Make a To-do-list:- I like the idea of making a to do list for the next day before I go to bed. When I don’t make a  to-do-list, the day is not productive as I wanted & I regret not utilising my time wisely at the end of the day. Time is precious, once it's gone it will not come back. I use a notebook for my to do list. It gives me a sense of accomplishment when I follow my list.

  1. Exercise & Eat healthy food:- As we all know, health is wealth. I start my day with warm water with lemon & honey, which has many benefits for our body. You have time to explain this further.  Perhaps one sentence that describes the benefits of the warm water drink?  Your audience will be curious.   Physical activity boosts our energy & overall mood. I workout for 20minutes to one hour daily.. Since, I am a Zumba Instructor most of the time I do Zumba, and supplement my practice with Yoga &  or other cardio. I know there is a compound effect, if I do 20 minutes of workout, in a month it will be 600 minutes. This is a very good point.  Give a short pause here to allow that number to sink in.  I avoid oily foods, sugary drink & choose the healthy stuff which nourishes my body. I make sure to drink a minimum 2lites of water, green tea & finish my dinner before 2hours i go to bed.

In summary, 

-gratitude journal makes me realize how blessed i am.

-meditation helps me to remain calm & think clearly

-goal rewriting helps me to focus on my goals.

-self help book & motivational podcast inspire & uplift me

-to do list helps me to keep in track by taking action.

-exercise & healthy food helps me to keep fit & healthy.

These are the habits that help me to remain positive & enthusiastic, which ultimately lead to success as of now.
